Sianti Gallery — The Identity of an Artwork

Certificates of
Authenticity

A Certificate of Authenticity accompanies each artwork and serves as its official record, documenting key information about the work and its provenance.

Why It Matters

A Certificate of Authenticity is more than just a document.

A Certificate of Authenticity is more than just a document. Issued by Sianti Gallery upon the purchase of an artwork, it confirms the essential details that establish and document the work’s identity.

Sianti Gallery provides a Certificate of Authenticity with every artwork purchased, regardless of its value. It is an important record for ownership, loans, resale, exhibitions and insurance purposes.

Copyright remains with the artist, and ownership of the artwork does not include reproduction rights.

Certificates are issued only once and should therefore be kept in a safe place.

Painting

The Certificate of Authenticity serves as the official record of each painting. It includes information about the artist, medium, dimensions and year of creation, as well as the details of the new owner and the date of purchase.

The certificate is stamped and signed by Sianti Gallery, confirming the authenticity of the artwork, which also bears the artist’s signature.

The authenticity of the sculpture is confirmed by the stamp and signature of Sianti Gallery.

Silkscreen

The certificate identifies each authentic, numbered silkscreen and includes information about the artist and the edition. Each work is individually signed and numbered by the artist.

Once the predetermined edition has been completed, the edition is permanently closed and no further copies are produced.

In some cases, a work may bear the initials E.A. (Épreuve d’Artiste) or H.C. (Hors Commerce) instead of an edition number. These works are produced during the printing process, as the artist works towards the desired colour balance and final aesthetic result.

Each one may present subtle variations in colour, giving it its own distinctive character and particular collectible value.

Small-Scale Sculpture

The certificate serves as the official record of each small-scale sculpture and includes information about the sculptor and the title of the work.

For limited editions, the edition number is indicated on the certificate and is also engraved on the sculpture by the artist. Each work also bears the sculptor’s signature.
