Apostolos Yayannos was born in 1945 in Tripoli. In 1960 he settled in Athens. In 1965-67 he studied graphic arts at A.T.I. with teachers A. Tassos, H. Dekoulakos, D. Mytaras and in 1971-73 he studied in the painting workshop of H. Dekoulakos. In 1968 he founded and directed the Applied Arts Form workshop. In 1974 he left Applied Arts and devoted himself to painting.

In 1974 he left Applied Arts and devoted himself to painting. He has held 88 individual exhibitions in Greece, France, Belgium, England, Spain, Italy, Cyprus. He has taken part in more than 500 group exhibitions in Greece, Cyprus, USA, Canada, Australia, England, France, Belgium, Italy, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Iceland, Bulgaria. His works have graced the covers of books by Greek authors and the front pages of magazines. He dealt with the folklore and visuals of the shadow theater (The World of Karagiozis 1 & 11, collectible volumes Figures and Stages, Ermis publications, 1975-1976, reprint Figures: publications 24 letters, 2021). His novel Good By Forever (Kaktos 2003) has been published, and the satirical poem collections from 24 Letters publications: Tears and laughter (2018), Akron Aoton (haiku, 2019), Eros (2019), Here and There (2020), Tinnitus in Silence (haiku, 2022). His works can be found in: the National Gallery of Greece, the Aegean Museum, the Vorres Museum, the Frisiras Museum, the Ministry of Culture, the National Bank of Greece, Embassies of Greece in Europe, public and private museums, private collections in Greece and abroad. His works have been listed in the catalogs of “Sotheby’s” and “Christie’s”. He lives and works in Athens.
